NASA launches Mars rover “Curiosity”

With this morning’s launch, NASA’s $2.5 billion rover – aptly named “Curiosity” – began its 354-million-mile journey to Mars. And as Lee Cowan reports, getting to the Red Planet is only half the problem.

US launches robot seeking signs of life on Mars

The biggest and most advanced robotic rover ever heads to Mars on Saturday on a mission to hunt for inhabitable environments. AFPTV looks at the $2.5 billion Mars Science Laboratory, a.k.a. “Curiosity”, touted by NASA as a “scientist’s dream machine.”
